Every position on the ballot should not be easily ignored. Btw what’s the point of being a governor when you don’t control the assembly?
I don’t know how maps are chopped up in Georgia, but in my old state of Pennsylvania the governor has the final say on maps. That’s why it’s important to have the position. In Pennsylvania, the republicans control the house of assembly by a disgusting margin.

I know the lieutenant governor just upped and retired last week.
He should have suspended his reelection campaign earlier. Bill Walker is very unpopular in Alaska (only a 29% approval rating) but he still decided to run for reelection anyways.
Anyways, he was a spoiler in the race. He split the vote between him and the Democrat in the race (Mark Begich, who is a former U.S. Senator). The Republican in the race (Mike Dunleavy) was leading in the 3 way race but now that Walker is gone, it will get closer but Walker's name will still be on the ballot.
Bill Walker also endorsed Mark Begich (the Democrat).
