The Mummy was a really really great fun summer box office movie. Perfect blend of comedy, action, horror, suspense, etc. Watched that in theaters and was fully engaged if not edge of my seat throughout. That would be my pick.

Sixth Sense and Matrix i understood the hype and thought both were great but i wasn't as impressed as i was with the Mummy. Same with Fight Club.

Sidenotes: I actually watched American Beauty a year after it's debut, in school. I forget the class or why we were watching it but i remember enjoying the movie immensely. Especially the 3rd act. And while I don't care for the 'teen movie' genre, I did enjoy She's All That much more than American Pie.

Seeing The Sixth Sense in theaters was an incredible experience, the summer heat

Kind of an example of the kind of late 90's prosperity, the connectivity of movies, saw it with 4 friends, their Mom dropped us off and picked us up, but also an era where as a child,

I didn't know genre conventions yet, and watched movies as forming experiences, I never knew what to expect, just captivated by plot and the unpredictability of cinema. The Mummy was fun to me also, but the sharper edges of Sixth Sense, the quiet sadness of Willis, the ghosts, the hanging, the menace, of course the twist, Donnie Walhberg's unsettling intro.

note: I also purchased Memphis Bleek debut at 13 years old that same day lol
