it's loads of cats on every level that get a rep for just 1v1 & it doesn't translate to 5v5 that's the type of player we are talking about

or you think they go in those gyms all summer & get no work¿

I was a great 1v1 basketball player because I had size, smart and could shoot. Id beat all the best players in my city. You can take your time, get to the spot you like.

I was a so-so 5 v 5 because I could never get past the 2nd help defender or pass out of a double team of play with my back the basket and you have to play fast and getting to your spot is hard.


Completely different games and it’s better to be great 5v5 because nobody is giving scholarships for 1v1.

of course it's real basketball, but it doesn't mean a lot. I've beat some D1 and Juco players 1 on 1 and I've lost to a lot of them. That doesn't mean I'm better than they are. Some people are just great 1 on 1 players. I remember one dude saying in the gym, "for some reason, he's good at this shyt.." hahaha. And it's also a stamina thing in that I didn't get tired.

but when it came to team games
and official games where we had a coach 5 on 5, I would be totally anonymous in the game and get hardly any playing time because I lacked the off the ball movement skills and spacing and didn’t know how to play zone defence mind you this is hs basketball

The reason 1 on 1 isn't real basketball is because basketball is inherently a team sport.

It's like saying the Oklahoma drill is real football.
Or live BP without fielders is real baseball.

1 vs 1 is ego shyt and it might be fun. But it has never proved anything.
There are far too many basketball failures who could dominate 1 vs 1 situations to act like it would be true.

I’m a Lebron fan.

1) We already have confirmation from Haslem that Wade beat him.

2) We have 20 years of data. It’s not hard to think like bron bruh. He never did the dunk contest bc he doesn’t want to lose.

And even beyond Bron, in general it’s a lose lose for a player of his stature. Social media era the avg fan doesn’t realize that yes a cam reddish today could absolutely beat Bron 1 v 1 and that doesnt mean anything. But the trash fans we have nowadays would MAKE it mean something. (As evident by the way they’re reacting to this video). Fans would talk about it til they die and bring it up in goat debates.

So yes, he’s justified to not want to put himself in that position.
