Catering to the fans imo is what has killed that show. Shows like G.O.T. are cut throat with no fukks given. Killed Ned Stark in the first ep on some brutal shyt.

Killing Ned Stark stayed true to the books. Game of Thrones is starting to suffer with the same problems Walking Dead has been suffering from since they're also moving away from the source material. But they at least have the excuse of GRRM refusing to finish the god damn books
