They haven't said much about the sex, but i bet it was just a old ass guy being the baliff.
I was wrong too, becaue this wasn't even someone walking off the street, this was someone in custody on the way to the court room.

Just speculating... but the baliffs likely died because they were tryna be good lil robots for the system and got in the way.
If the defendant took a gun off the baliff it seems the most probable intended target would have been the judge or the prosecutor. Or perhaps a witness.

But unless the baliffs had been negative to him or were trying to stop him, I would hope he was smart enough to take out the main people responsible, not target the help.

Unless it was just an opportunity and he saw an opening.
