No he wouldn't have.....the AJ1 and Dunk debuted the same year by the same designer and dunks were meant for the college market. They didnt make Dunks as some scheme to screw MJ out of money
The dunks came out after the AJ1 debuted, not at the same time. This was clearly meant as a way to capitalize on the popularity of that shoe without having to spend any addtional money on design or development costs, and cash in on the popularity of the aj1's. they literally just removed the jumpman logo and said new shoe.
If changing the logo is enough to be an entirely new creation, then why are they suing these two designers? they have a clearly different logo. So therefore it has nothing to do with nike dunks same way nike dunks have nothing to do with AJ1's right? Thats basically what yall are saying by arguing my point.

this is the other thing. KIY was replicating direct colorways and designs not just the silhouette.

I'm not saying its not in the contract either, just that it's a shady workaround. Nobody would be buying dunks if they didn't look exactly like J's and yet he doesn't get paid for them. The brand recognition behind his marketing of Jordan's are entirely responsible for the success of that shoe. simple as that,

Saying "bu bu but its the same company!" doesn't invalidate that fact. The similarity between this and the scarjo situation are entirely accurate.
Nike has a ton of sneakers that look similar to each other. They’ll slightly change the design so that they will constantly have something new on the shelves

You are contradicting your own argument by agreeing these 2 designers shoes are a copy of Dunks, while at the same time saying dunks aren't a copy of AJ1's.

You are being idealistic about business. that is all. no more need to go back n forth. it's not the same situation no contract was broken by Nike. nothing shady happened. the only fact is Jordan got part ownership of a company as an athlete and that hasn't happened before or after. yet somehow he got slighted. ok

weird perspective..

You mean Omi was. Outside of like basic colorways, Kiy was mostly doing his own thing color wise.

Its sad. I wonder if they tried to C&D them first. Dude is going to lose alot of that money he’s built fighting this long ass court case and will probably lose in the end. I wonder if he can settle.

Thats fine if you think that, basically you're saying since things worked out for both parties in the end nothing is wrong. I understand.
Obviously they are both cool with it, but doesn't change the fact that dunks are knockoff J's and MJ doesn't get paid for them.
