2 New Cases in NY of Babies Getting Herpes After Jewish Circumcision Ritual

Two more infants were diagnosed with herpes in New York this month after undergoing ritual Jewish circumcisions, the Health Department says.

In both cases, the infant boys were born to mothers with full-term pregnancies and normal deliveries. They were circumcised using the direct oral suction technique practiced by some Orthodox Jews eight days after their birth, and developed lesions on their genitals shortly thereafter, the Health Department said.

Their conditions Wednesday weren't immediately clear.

NYC to Require Consent for Oral Suction Ritual

There have been 16 confirmed cases of herpes since 2000 in newborn boys after circumcisions that likely involved direct oral suction, including three in 2014, according to the Health Department.

Two of the infants died and at least two others suffered brain damage.

During the ancient ritual, the person performing the circumcision attempts to cleanse the wound by sucking blood from the cut and spitting it aside. Authorities say the saliva contact could give the infant herpes, which is harmless in adults but could kill newborns.

In 2012, the Board of Health voted unanimously to require anyone performing circumcisions that involve oral suction to obtain written consent from a parent or guardian. The consent form delineates the potential health risks outlined by the Health Department.

A group of Orthodox rabbis sued in an attempt to block the regulation, but a judge sided with the city.

The parents have to sign a form acknowledging that the city Health Department advises against the practice because of risks of herpes and other infections.

Sadly, those arguments seem enough for our governments to allow a grown man to suck an infant's penis (and give that child STDs that may end up killing him).

But let a Mormon have multiple wives or for some Mormon parents to consent to their daughters having sex with the cult leader. Guns come out then.

Spreading diseases to the infant is of course a huge consequence, but let's not lose sight that grown men are putting their mouths on children's genitals in the year 2014 because of something written thousands of years ago that has been pretty much been disregarded by most people of that faith. Grown men sucking off babies. In the year 2014. In a secular society that has ruled countless times that religious rights don't trump public safety and secular laws.

They openly discriminated against black people in their church which was against the law. Funny thing is that after the threat by the IRS, their religious leaders all of a sudden had a vision that black people were now allowed in the church by the will of God, and that the original men of the faith were wrong in their interpretation. What a fukking coincidence huh?

So there is absolutely precedent for such actions, they just usually involve Christians/Mormons and Muslims. One religion seems to get a pass more than others for some odd reason, especially in the state of New York. You basically have two Orthodox Jewish towns in the state of New York where the constitution and modern law is not followed, and open discrimination is allowed.

This is troubling in a secular society.

The change seems to have been prompted at least in part by problems facing mixed race converts in Brazil. Today, the church opposes racism in any form[7] and has no racial policy.

8% of people condoning a grown man sucking on a child's genitals is 8% too much, I don't care if that amounts to 10 people. I'm against Sharia, or Muslim communities that violate secular law just as much. I just happen to think that a grown man who can legally suck on a child's penis because he got written permission from a parent, and for them to not be thrown in a jail cell, is FAR worse than someone getting arrested for burning a Koran.

It's not even on the same level of morality.
