Who wrote the Bible? Who wrote the Qur'an?
And was it a lightning storm
That gave birth to the earth
And then dinosaurs were born? damn
Who made up words? who made up numbers?
And what kind of spell is mankind under?
Everything on the planet we preserve and can it
Microwaved it and try it
No matter what we'll survive it
What's hu? what's man? what's human?
Anything along the land we consuming
Eatin', deletin', ruin

How could :ahh: not be the GOAT.

And nuff respect to Junior Gong :salute:

too bad damien/nas seen the devil and will probably never unite for an album again and I also have the feeling nas will be more "life is good" from now on. they were vague in the interview but essentially the powers that be threatened them and also forced them to water down the songs. they wanted to reference specific conditions and situations but were deterred forcefully.

yea that track is insanity. the album can only go over the heads of close minded individuals. open chakras already know the deal.

this album was huge overseas.

they were playing "promise land" in the mall in kingston and that's when I was like WORD. that and reading how the africans was rallying up while bumpin this CD.

Word? What interview did they say they had to water down the content? and you're right the album is huge overseas. I was in London earlier this year and heard it pumpin several times.

This is truthfully one of the greatest Nas verses I've ever heard. This shyt gets me:wow: EVERY TIME. People truthfully don't understand the power of intellect and the DEPTH of knowledge that Nas was displaying on Untitled and Distant Relatives. These are two of the greatest pro black Hip Hop albums ever released. These two albums are so damn intelligent I can't BELIEVE people aren't hailing them for the classics they are. I read that some people felt that Nas coasted on this album and I can't for the LIFE of me understand how that's possible with verses like this on the album. Nas and Damien really committed to coming together and saying something of IMPORTANCE with this album and they succeeded on all fronts:salute:

 I cant add anything to the thread after this fam. You laced it. :myman:

might be the most overrated album on this site... shyt was a straight snooze fest...

the damian marley only version >>>>

u have max b in ya avatar...don't ever critique music again

Except I'm dead serious. I like hip hop, even when it's bad, more than hybrid reggaeton/mufasa beats.

word?

Classic Niccas
I don't hear DJ's playing Fear Of A Black Planet, BlackStar, By All Means Neccessary, etc. Are these any less classic albums?

Not every album was conceptualized for radio/DJ play. Some are mean to be digested by the listener with thought and attention given to the lyrics, concepts, and overall THEME of the body of work.

:what:

DJ's do so play cuts from the albums in the bolded.

ive never heard blackstar spinned, but then again, ive never heard it be referred to as a classic in the real world.

not saying i agree or disagree with either of the sentiments that you 2 have towards DJ's spinning records. just pointing out the obvious. also, i dont think dude is referring to corporate DJs.

DR is the type of album you bump on a summer evening smoking some piff with your friends and discussing the mysteries of life while you look up at the stars :ahh:

Just because it wasn't meant for the clubs doesn't make it any less classic

:wtf:

the f**k type of shenanigans are you people into?

Classic Niccas

you can post as many smilies as you want. it doesnt change the fact that its not viewed as a legitimate classic.

and i liked blackstarr. they were the chit. but im not gonna play dumb and act as if its generally anything more than a cult classic amongst backpackers & incent lighters.

You wishin' you were sittin' in the top position
Picture perfect, nothing less 'cause you deserve it
Without the Hermes, you'd have a hurtin'
You knew that you was destined for greatness, for certain
You see the over-zealous, they be thirstin', caught up in emotion
You keepin' your composure like Gershwin
Songs by Earth Wind keep you in the zone, writing verses
So when your pocket's light, know that you have a heavy purpose

the flow...:whew:
