You can never have a classic record and the rapper on it is horrifically offkey and offbeat the whole damn album.
Album is a two mic/star album at best.
The two stars is just for Damien Marley being a good sport to attempt to carry has for a WHOLE fukkIN ALBUM!

this is one of the worst collabs and reggae albums of all time.

Nobody cares about the rappers content.
when the rapper on it is spitting old outdated and Offkey rhymes every verse for the whole album.

nas is god awful on this record.

I notice how nobody calling it classic talks about how offkey, outdated and wack nas is on this record.
It is just a bunch, of baseless claim reviews with no actual depth or know how of reggae.
Let alone collaborative efforts.

This album if not for Marley's part.
Would be one of the worst supposed content rich rap albums of all time.

nas was scaramanga bad on this album.
That is how awful nas is.
Real talk,....
Nas is the single most overrated personality and emcee of our Gen, easy.

after illmatic, on the real and a few select choice cuts here and there.
Nas's discography ain't on a damn thang quality wise.

This is a post filled with hatred, to the point where discussion is not possible.

Many things you have said there are shocking to me but to say nas disog ain't worth shyt and he is the most overrated mic pretty much sums up why discussion is pointless.

You have a serious hate for nas, clearly. Shame its tainted your experience of this classic record.

They appeal to the conscious
The Paramount
The Cesar, the monsters
The grandiose, the matters
The hell on earth pompous
Ellsworth Bumpy Johnsons
The Harlemites the Garveyites
Black as the credit card we swipe
Poppin' Dom tonight
For all of mine
I can see myself back at the Autobahn
Malcolm on the podium
Shells drop to linoleum
Swipe those
Place 'em on display at the Smithsonian
Next to only gems
That were left behind
By holy men
Infectious
Charisma of those who gave us direction
The anti-sexes
Resistance against oppression
Progressive thinking
Ghetto speakers
Protestors against the colored
Only section to the Jena 6 and
The Frost Nixon
The contradiction
The cross the crucifixion
The loss we took for sinning
On Esau's back inscription
That it was written
That nothing is coincidence'n
They took our leaders and they lynched them

This is truthfully one of the greatest Nas verses I've ever heard. This shyt gets me:wow: EVERY TIME. People truthfully don't understand the power of intellect and the DEPTH of knowledge that Nas was displaying on Untitled and Distant Relatives. These are two of the greatest pro black Hip Hop albums ever released. These two albums are so damn intelligent I can't BELIEVE people aren't hailing them for the classics they are. I read that some people felt that Nas coasted on this album and I can't for the LIFE of me understand how that's possible with verses like this on the album. Nas and Damien really committed to coming together and saying something of IMPORTANCE with this album and they succeeded on all fronts:salute:

One of my top Nas verses. Shame songs like this never reach the people who really need to hear it

Its because you're slow.

Distant Relatives is perhaps the finest meld of hip hop and Reggae. Truly an unprecedented feat. Will go down in history as a classic no doubt.

:russ: na it was just wack u bum ass nikka, and it not a classic, cause nobody gave a fukk bout it, blackstar "black on both sides" is a classic, dead prez "let us free is a classic, not this trash

Nas has four classics. This isn't one of them. Cool album though.

One of the best duo rap songs ever imo. The chemistry is crazy, the hook is infectious...I'm pretty depressed this wasn't a huge huge. Plus it's CRAZY live. Only thing I don't like is that the end of the track should have been a nice breakdown of the beat with some crazy drums, plus them synths from the chorus. Instead it kind of just fizzles out.

This album will always be seen as pivotal for reviving Nas. We wouldn't have Life Is Good without Distant Relatives, shyt was like an Energizer Bunny battery for the god

I notice you did not post one thing to challenge or attempt to disprove what I posted.

stop trying to revise history, on some nas Stan wants to use the camel playbook shyt.
That bullshyt does not work on me, and any nikka that is real.
This album was given poor marks when it was released and it is still a poor album from nas's behalf solely, to this day.
Damien Marley carries every fukk'n record on this album.
Nas just dropped some wack offkey, run on sentence verses.
With no attention to a break drum pattern, flow or any emcee technical skills whatsoever on this album.
Anyone who knows rap knows this.
You definitely do not know emcee'n in my level.

Nor, are you actualized in rap or as an emcee in my level, either.
I definitely know you are not capable of giving a real objective review of this.
You are nuffin more than another toy.
Gas'n up nas because someone told you that is what to do.
To front and pose to try to fit in.
Yet, you are not fooling real bboys.
Who know nas been a wack sellout revenue grab lame since the rnb remix to one love.
Who actually killed quality culturally based rap.
Then has the fukk'n nerve to say, and point fingers.
While, hiding his own hands talem out who killed't it.

NO real bboys are fooled by that phoney culture stealing anti-Christ of hip hop ass nikka, b.

You are,.....
A real bboys is not!

Anybody bugging up this album is an, ol' i wanna be down pose'n face ass, nikka.
This fukk'n record is fukk'n awful.

shyt is worse than the firm, by the cubic square radius of the African continent.
For all you smart dumb nikkaz....

You nas stans are the same but worst phoney toy stans than the camel mammalian riders from the planet melmac.
Simply, because you try to attempt to hide behind nas's fake cultural connection.
Like you fooling, real bboys but you are not...

i definitely know nas does not have four classic records.
Nas has one classic album, and one damn good bside anthology record.
This album for damn sure was not cool.
This album should have been a definitive reggae collaborative effort.
On the wavelength and skill of blck uhuru's red to walk of freedom.
Of which l,...there was no nas Jr Reid like performances.
To mainstream by like Reid did.
Let alone, there were no really great performances by nas.
Even being carried by a marley namely Damien.
To even come close to being called good music.

the rest of nas's albums are how can I be down filler.
Posed to appeal to toy fans who would like to be culture based.
Surrounded by mediocre halfhearted and wack commercial sellout attempts to flirt the line.
While, fronting like nas is this great career and culturally relevant artist.
When anyone who is real saw through this shyt back in the one love remix twelve.
Plus, the sellout direction of iww and definitely and concretely.
When he also, penned big Willie style and said hate me now with puff.

That nikka is lucky he is better over a boombap break than jayz.
If he was not,....
His shyt would be dead as fukk, period.
i wish you wack sellout toys would stop trying to use the ways of the camel revision tools.
To try to spin nas's into this comeback culturally aware triumph.
When it is not.
When this novel is about a simp sellout nikka.
Who got lucky to meet large professor.
Then bite organized stray bullet.
Then act like he does not know who organized is.
When, paul c,....was influential to organized.
Plus paul was down with large pro.
Who is the cousin to his fukk'n bm.

You dudes believe those hulk hogun,....
I wanted to sign sting after wrestlemania three ass lies.
Yet,..i do not because sting was not even a relevent heel mainstay in the uwf at the time mania three was popping off.
Nas is a liar and a culture thief on the lines of hulk hogun.

You nikkas are goofies to believe this blatant revision of culture and history.

Album was good, but it always felt more of a Damian Marley feat. Nas album instead of a a collab album. wouldn't say it's a classic, but the album got heavy rotation from me

Classic? Nah

It has some heat though and was definitely slept on by the mainstream in 2010

You nikkaz gotta get out of the habit of labeling every quality album as a 'classic'

I thought it was a solid album and liked it for what it is . But its definetly not for everyone.

The pro-Africa theme definetly went into Grammy bait/adult contemporary range a lot throughout the album but it wasnt bad music because of it. Not a classic or anything but a nice little summer album. Ironically, it was an album that was begging for Salaam Remi's touch what with his reggae/Hip Hop expereince.

What I can say though is that the live show was:dj2::blessed:. Saw them twice (Hammersmith Apollo July 2010 and Wembley Arena March 2011) and both were spectactular shows.
