They be in deep, CATASTROPHIC debt and typically have a self image built around not just being a provider, but financially successful within their community. Becoming an Uber driver is never going to diminish the potential humiliation of losing their 4000sqft suburban homes and having their luxury cars and toys repossessed. They kill their families and then themselves so they never have to face the consequences.

These killers are obviously 100% ego driven and utterly insane to begin with because plenty of men face job loss and foreclosure without murdering everyone they love. It takes a narcissistic and delusional piece of shyt to think "I'm so ashamed of my failure that I can't stand the thought of my family finding out so I'll just kill us all instead!"
