I know it says it came out in March 1, 1997 on Wikipedia but thats why Hot 97 was beautiful at one point. I remember it was right before X Mas 96 that Hot 97 started spinning "Hypnotize." Angie Martinez said she was about to play it and I had the tape deck ready. Played it for my lil cousin when he said no after I asked him if he heard it yet. I played that song over and over again looking for Tupac subliminals.

The same way Pete Rock and Marley Marl debuted Mobb Deeps "Drop A Gem" 2 weeks before Pacs death but the rest of the world didnt hear it till after. The same way Hot 97 was playing "97 Mentality" by Cappadonna spring 97 gassing the city into believing that was the first single from the highly anticipated Wu Tang Forever. "Hypnotize" was an early X Mas gift for Hip Hop heads living in NYC.
Let me add that also around this time, the original version of "All About The Benjamins" was already in rotation on Hot 97, I'd say it was in traction rotation around October 96....it didnt get the proper rotation until the full version dropped. The original version did not have a hook, a Kim verse or a Biggie verse , just Puffy and The Lox
