Rakim on 'I'll Buss 'em You Punish 'em' from Canibus' 2000 B.C.

If I'm not mistaken, that was Rakim's first time featuring on any Hip Hop album.

Thats top secret information
Scarface (surely a bigger name/album than Lil Jon in 2000) and 504 Boyz (nr 2 album nationwide, Wobble Wobble was a hit record) should be mentioned

:ohhh:

Totally forgot about that Face album.....Coulda sworn that came out in 2001. I think thats cuz I bought it in 2001 I fixed it tho. That album was eh. It was supposed to be him retiring. He was like the 2nd rapper after Too Short to do the fake retiring thing. I will say this tho..Face was bigger in name but Lil Jon had like 3 popular singles.

Mobb Deep in 95 too
Pac in 95 too
Outkast dropped in 94 and 96. What did Rap A Lot drop in 95?
Twists and Do Or Die were 96 I think.

Yeah 96 would be a better choice

Jay, Nas, Kim, Foxy, Mobb, Fugees going hard for NYC

Geto Boys, Outkast, MP reppin' da south with big releases

Do Or Die and Bone (coming off a phenomenal 94/95) doing big thangs for the midwest

Pac, E-40, Dre, Snoop and DPG (off a late-95 smash with Dogg Food) keepin' the west on the nr 1 spot for its last year

To put it in perspective, in 2000 people HATED what was happening with few exceptions. Funny how things change with time. There was a lot of very good music released then, Supreme Clientele the best.

I had this statement on my mind as I was driving to work and I remembered that Mobb Deep and Rakim did that song on the Hoodlum soundtrack. Now I dont know if that counts but that was like 3 years before the Canibus album.

Naa....2000 Got this. As u can see there was more shine towards every coast then what u posted. And there was east/west unity....Not east/west division.

(U forgot Da Brat and Crucial Conflict for the midwest)

Ah, you're right. I was looking for other Rakim features, but only found the ones he did with Truth Hurts.

Yeah I meant 96 compared to 95. Obviously 2000 was even bigger for all regions I agree

Yup, but quality did drop compared to the previous 5,6 years indeed, because labels/artists/CEOs rushed albums (Ruff Ryders, No Limit f.e.) and everything was centered around having big/catchy singles (Nelly, Big Tymers, Eminem's comedy lead singles in general, Jay, LL Cool J, hell everyone!!)

If we knew how hard quality dropped years later, we'd have put Drag-On and Silkk The Shocker on a pedestal in 2000
