2000's had some gems, but the whole Lil' Jon / Black Eyed Peas / Laffy Taffy run was commercial rap at its worst.

Comparing it to the Golden Era is a losing battle.

Take away Kanye, and the 2000's is just awful.
So kanye is the only person who released good music in the 2000s?
Shut up cac :russ:

@BrothaZay has a point, the 2000's is disgustingly underrated.

2000's fell off hard after 2004, but I sincerely believe 2000-2004's can stack up against any other 5 years in Hip Hop (1992-96 are the GOAT years).

A lot of 80's Hip Hop just hasn't aged well at all (Ice-T ) so if we're talking strictly rap music, I have to give it to the 2000's (keep in mind the first half of the 2000's produced quality mainstream Hip Hop, hardcore hip hop, neo-soul Hip Hop and underground/alternative Hip Hop like Madvillain and Del).

80's had Rick James, Prince, Sade, Michael fukking Jackson in his PRIME etc. so for overall black music I got to give it to the 80's.

80's has the worst fashion of all time so 2000's wins that category by default.

Casually around 1997-8 when I was a kid, and seriously around 2000 :yeshrug:. 80's has several classics, but you can't convince me 2 Live Crew is quality music, or really any better than the Laffy Taffy era stuff. There's terrible music in every decade.

I think people have a kneejerk reaction to call all new(er) music bad and most old music good.
