Good music came out but it was no golden era.

ehhh it had its good...50 and the early gunit stuff, the dipset shyt was entertaining and dope, snoops albums were still solid, dillinger and young gotti and couple quick albums in that time, young jeezy was alright

but that whole ja rule, nelly, etc era...where every artist had to croon for the ladies etc was all garbage

it was better than 2006 and later era, but not as good as the turn of the century era

the 00's were whack.

Kanye, Cam & 50 held it down...but for the most part the whole sound and what was coming out was lame.
It was pretty much a time where 90's rappers were finishing out their career, so they did drop some heat.

I was in high school during this period so while that time does hold a place in my heart for certain albums, especially blueprint, stillmatic, lost tapes and the two ghost joints from that period, I wouldn't call it golden. Silver is definitely a good title though because there was a lot of good stuff. But there were also duds and a lot of new dudes who people thought "had next" and they turned out to be corny punchline rappers.

I will say that was probably the last gasp of hip hop being the wild wild west and just reckless albeit entertaining behavior reigned supreme. Nas throwing shots at hot 97, anything with cam and dipset, anything with state property, the Sigel and Jada beef, Nas and Jay, 50 and Ja. And yet, some dudes really thought Jay Hood was going to be that dude

I will agree with that though. The thing about eras, is they're seen that way in hindsight. The 90s era became what it became in hindsight once there was enough time to look back on it. We can't call this era anything until there is enough time behind it but looking back at that early 2000s is appropriate because it's at least 10 years behind us at this point

Another thing is people didnt have to say "this is a new golden era" or "were about to enter another golden era" or label artists with 2 albums out that arent even classic "new legends"... people just made good music and everything happened naturally
