Fam..

These younger nikkas will never know just how much fun we had back then. Rolling into a club like you was in a Soul Train line..:wow: young nikka gliding across the floor like the god James Brown with two bad ass females on each wing :wow:, having to recuperate at a Waffle House or IHOP afterwards to build up your energy to smash the aforementioned females for the night:wow: then wake up next morning and not remember shyt :wow::wow:
:russ::myman: and if that was a Friday night, you turned around on Saturday and *In DJ Quik voice* "We doin' the same ol shyt tonight!" I was young making grown folks money with a '84 Monte Carlo. Couldn't tell me shyt. Cocky muthafukka with big goals and dreams :youngsabo:. Seriously, WATTBA :blessed:. shyt ain't been right since 9/11 :mjcry: lke we entered another dimension or some shyt.

Idgaf about the govnt looking the other way while NYC acquired another L, but 2001 will always be memorable cuz our Flow Lord and Lyrical Savior Hova Da Gawd released his 3rd classic & the #2 rap album OAT (The Blueprint).

Thank you, Based Hova.

Great song and an even better video.

:russ: at Mystikal throughout the whole video.

He drives up next to the woman yelling at her down the road and the whole time she has the :what: look.

I was bootlegging CDs back then, back before the hood and everyone had computers and burners. I can't remember how I got the Blueprint 2 weeks early, but I was in Norfolk Va selling bootlegs for 10$-15$ a piece.

That golden days of bootlegging. :blessed:

Take like an hour to burn one cd tho.:sadcam:

I remember watching a shyt ton of movies during this year, especially over the summer:

Swordfish (didn’t know WTF was going on, I just thought Halle Berry’s character was fine asf and the cac daughter of the protagonist was kinda cute *Note: I was still 8 at the time*)

Pokémon The Movie 3 (this was the last Pokémon movie to be shown in theaters for YEARS)

Jimmy Neutron The Movie

Jurassic Park III (as a MAJOR Jurassic Park/World fan, it’s definitely not the best installment in the Jurassic franchise but I still value it and I enjoyed watching it in theaters)

Atlantis: The Lost Empire (I love this movie so damn much, so many good memories)

Shrek (seen it over the Fall in my old hood’s Black-owned theater, funny as hell)

Cats and Dogs

Planet of the Apes

Spy Kids

The summer of ‘01 was bomb asf. Honestly, excluding 9/11 and Aaliyah’s death, 2001 was definitely one of the GOAT years of my childhood and my life in general.

Basically the 90s was the pinnacle of civilization

For some reason the new decade of Hip Hop always begins on the '3'

1973 begins

1983 goes pop

1993 golden era begins

2003 end of Classic Hip Hop (stopped paying attention after this)

Its been an interesting almost 2 decades since Classic Hip Hop ended. I don't think I play anything on purpose that was made after 2003. To this day

The only new things of note are Lil Wayne's whole rap/auto tune/sing song style that literally EVERYONE is biting now

and

The Migos "flow". Which wasn't that amazing but compared to these other niqqas that put in zero effort, it was at least something..

but

I was listening to Bad and Bougie (it was on the local Jamz station or sumn) and its starting to not age well
