if you dont remember any of music from then, is it still memorable?
i was more of a state property guy thru most of the year, but dipset was on their heels.
then by the end of the year when i copped that "diplomats vs dblock" tape, i never looked back. thats the first time i heard "purple city byrd gang", "get em girls" and a bunch of other chit that basically flipped my hip-hop world upside down. that was my introduction to JR Writer as well.
Thats to me when things started to dip
2002 was the last year where people were dropping the likes of God's Son, Blueprint II, A Gangsta and a Gentlemen, Aziatic, etc. That was the last real notable years in music.
2004 came close with the old NY guard making its last set of albums before the south took over 100%. When Nas, Jada, Ghostface, Banks, Cam'ron, Jim Jones, Cormega, Fab, Ma$e, and the rest of them were dropping and fighting the last stand of dominant NY artists.
I'd say 05 or 06 is when shyt started to decline.
03 and 04 provided so much piff it still amazes me.![]()
'05 & '06 is when it just started getting scary. still solid years tho.
started dying in '07.
dead by '08.
thats how i would describe it.
2003 >>> 2002
no classic albums in 2002. it was a preview of things to come.
2004 was when the mainstream became a joke, and mixtapes had to keep everything alive.
2006 was the last good year. but it was far from memorable.
back when east coast was on top. I miss that era
we still had culture then, even if it was bad.Thats to me when things started to dip
What We Do dropped in the fall of 02 right?
i did a similar thread, but i think that was on
and i know one of the homies did somewhat of a thread like this not too long ago.
but this is the official tissue joint right here.
10 year anniversary of the last year worth remembering. the last year with classic albums. the last year with alot of stuff. but we'll get into all that.
yall know what to do.
