We are likely entering another New Hollywood era that is driven more by creators than actors or even franchises. Outside of maybe Chalamet & Zendaya actors aren't really the draw anymore and the audience can see whether a movie is good or not before it even drops. If your shyt doesn't look well written/acted/shot or doesn't effectively draw on nostalgia (can't wait for Beetlejuice 2) people will just wait for streaming.

Especially considering we are seeing smaller theaters close in lieu of an Alamo Draft House model with a whole ass food menu/bar where u can easily drop >100 in one outing.
That Glen Powell/Sydney Sweeney rom com was a hit too. Seems like there are some stars who are bankable, but most success hinges on the filmmaker or IP. Somebody clearly though Vaughn was in that hit filmmaker tent and took an L with this.

I think movie stars are coming back in part because studios figured out there’s an obsessive audience of women and gay men who will promote your film for free and buy into all the promo as long as the stars have the right politics, social views, or are simply hot. We’re def seeing a return of obsessive fan girl culture.

Weird marketing campaign. I watched one review and apparently this is a movie for ladies. Seemed like a cheeky spy drama for guys like Kingsmen. I like subverting expectations but this didn't make any sense.
It is
And it's in the same universe as Kingsman too

According to Matthew Vaughn, the production budget was around $80million. The $200million is what Apple paid to Vaughn's production company
