If the Miami Heat have it their way, they'll have a commitment from Ray Allen within hours of Sunday's start of free agency. The longer the process plays out, the less it may favor them. The Heat, according to sources, have made Allen their prime offseason target and will pursue him strongly when free agency opens Sunday at 12:01 a.m. ET. They intend to offer him their $3 million mini-mid-level exception, a chance to win another title and significant playing time as they continue with the plan to play LeBron James as a power forward in the future. Heat players, including James and Dwyane Wade, have been publicly and privately recruiting Allen over the last month. "We've got five or six guys earmarked (in free agency) so we'll see how it goes," Heat president Pat Riley said. "We want to find as much space as we can on the floor for Dwyane, LeBron and for Chris (Bosh) to be able to operate."
Indiana Pacers general manager Kevin Pritchard kept the details vague but the team plans to be aggressive with free-agent center Roy Hibbert. Pritchard plans to work the phones in an attempt to add another big man and scorer on the wing. Guards Brandon Roy and O.J. Mayo are two wings players the Pacers plan to pursue. Jamal Crawford could also be a possibility. The Pacers are also expected to contact point guard Deron Williams' agent, but the top free agent on the market is expected to re-sign with the Brooklyn Nets or go to Dallas. Future Hall of Fame point guard Steve Nash also reportedly has a small list of teams he wants to sign with; however the Pacers aren't one of them.
Among FA candidates are Kris Humphries of Nets (unrestricted), Eric Gordon from Hornets (restricted) and #Sixers Lou Williams and S. Hawes.
Ronny Turiaf will not pick up option with Heat & will become an unrestricted free agent according to agent Mark Bartelstein
When the free-agent bell tolls tonight at 11 San Antonio time, all eyes in the Alamo City will be on Tim Duncan — and rightfully so. The Spurs franchise icon is set to become a free agent for just the third time in his 15-year career. Elsewhere below the radar, however, the Spurs’ starting shooting guard is also set to hit the market. Danny Green says he’s ready. “This is my first time to be pursued,” Green, who is set to enter his fourth NBA season, told the Express-News on Saturday by phone from his home on Long Island. “It’s an exciting time, and hopefully a fun time. I’m hoping there’s a good amount of teams who like what I can do.”
Update on Deron Williams free agency situation: I'd been told this morning by a source close to the Nets PG that it would take at least a couple days for a decision. Now ESPN reporting that he'll meet with the Nets and Dallas on Monday in New York. I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to wait a short bit before seeing if either team can lock up another quality free agent to help his cause (besides Jason Kidd, who is also a free agent tonight at midnight Eastern and seems destined to be his backup in either spot). Mavericks free-agent point guard Jason Kidd will also join whichever team Williams chooses, sources said. Williams is spending the weekend playing golf with Kidd in New York's Hamptons, sources say, yet one more indicator that the Nets have at least a fighting chance to keep Williams and add Kidd sometime after free agency begins Sunday. Kidd, who has indicated that he hopes to serve as a backup to Williams either in Brooklyn or Dallas, also recently purchased a home in East Hampton, a source close to Kidd said. Another source with business ties to both Kidd and Williams says that the two already have decided to play together for the Nets next season. However, multiple sources say Williams is still torn about his decision.
What is the market value for point guard Jeremy Lin? Knicks general manager Glen Grunwald can’t wait to find out now that Lin officially has his early Bird rights after the NBA dropped its appeal last night. According to people familiar with the Knicks’ strategy, Grunwald will be patient in the Lin negotiations and allow the market to set Lin’s price tag. Because Grunwald can match any offer, he can sit back and wait. Lin becomes a free agent tomorrow at 12:01 a.m. and Grunwald can offer him a maximum four-year deal starting at $5.5 million with 7 percent raises — a package worth $24.5 million.

Sources say there's a strong possibility Grant Hill will take a pay cut to sign with a contender like the Miami Heat
Mavs guard Jason Terry just wrote in an email to me he "definitely'' will consider the Miami Heat when free agency starts
