Wow. BYU just...wow. Deep in Utah territory, fumbled snap, RB tried picking it up, bobbled it, and Utah picked it up and ran it in. Now up 10.

All the harping about the underthrown passes, as if we don't see QBs that play on Sundays do this deliberatily from time to time. If its man coverage and the DB is running with the WR with his head turned away from the QB why not under throw it? Either your WR will make a play or you will get a PI more times than not.

The only reason why I am harping on this is because it consistently happened in this game. While QB's deliberatily do this in the NFL, this wasn't deliberate. If UT played any secondary worth a pulse, a couple of those passes are intercepted. Especially the Mike Davis touchdown pass. He needs to improve on accuracy and to lead the receiver.

How do you know it wasn't deliberate? You are assuming that, however the throws were successful. I understand Ash is not all world QB but keep in mind he is a true sophomore. At least he is getting the ball out of his hands on time. Would you have rathered him overthrow those passes and not give anyone a chance to catch it or underthrow them and allow our receivers to make plays on the ball? We both know the answer to that.

People will say, it won't work against better defenses, but it will, if the DB has his backed turned, and under throw will be successful the majority of the time because the WR will be the only one able to make a play on the ball.

Don't misunderstand what I'm saying. I'm not saying he had a bad game at all and I acknowledged that he is improving and am happy to see that. But I'm just dishing out some constructive criticism tonight only on his deep throws. He is good at throwing screens and short throws. Improving on intermediate and deep throws and becoming a better leader and decision maker at the line of scrimmage. But the long throws leaves a lot to be desired. I can accept if you say he deliberately underthrew a couple of those passes. But not all which is what I saw tonight. I want him to at least lead the receiver into the catch and be more accurate. All I'm saying. None of his throws were accurate. And you can overthrow the ball and have the receiver make a play on it as well. Don't see your point there.

Grew up tonight. Glad to see it. But would like to see better touch on the ball when he throws it deep.

He hit Mike right on the mark deep once. It was his best throw all year. Both throws to Goodwin were the correct throws IMO, the other throws to Mike were the questionable ones. All his intermediate throws were right on the mark. A QB doesn't complete 15 straight passes and not be accurate. You are being to hard on the kid. He did go 19/23.

with this rushing attack you're going to get safeties down in the box to stop the run. ash needs to take advantage of this when given the opportunity. today he was good. yes he's a true sophomore but we're spoiled b/c of vince and colt. plus some of us are still ticked about gilbert vs. rg3/luck. i like ash, i want him to succeed, but i think he needs to play a little better if we're talking about doing big things this year.
