The average NBA team is worth approximately $509 million, representing a 30 percent increase over last year.

The increase is due to higher revenue from television, new and renovated arenas, and the NBA’s new collective-bargaining agreement, which reduced player costs from 57% of revenues to roughly 50%.

The New York Knicks are the NBA's most valuable franchise, worth approximately $1.1 billion. The Knicks' value rose 41 percent due to a $980 million renovation of Madison Square Garden.

The Los Angeles Lakers were the NBA's most valuable franchise last season.

The Chicago Bulls rank third at $800 million, followed by the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and San Antonio Spurs.

hmm.. seems about right but i thought Lakers would be #1 and Knicks #2 . Instead it's the two biggest media markets in respective order.

Anyway, THIS is what really matters in the end, tho. Championships are nice (and help) but when it all comes down to it $$ trumps all.

Couple things that stood out to me

 • Miami is the only one of the newer franchises (1988 and up) to make top 10. You did it Micky!
 • Pistons value fell off big time.
 • I dont believe Indiana ranks that low in value. People in that state worship basketball and especially the Pacers and hoosiers (sp).
 • Put the Thunder in Seattle and they're in the top 7
 • Kings maintained their value pretty well despite the fall off since Webber left.:ehh:

The NBA has a long way to go for old money.

The least profitable NFL Team = The Jacksonville Jaguars worth 770 Million is still worth doubled the amount of the least profitable NBA team.

They play slow grind it out ball with no #1 or #2 option. Horford can be a #1 with the right system and PG but we don't have the personnel or the system. We have three two way players (Teague, Al, and Smoove) and a bunch of specialists.

I hate to break it to you, but Horford will NEVER be a #1 option. and that wouldn't matter if he was playing for the clippers with cp3 setting him up instead of blake.

That's just an object cash evaluation of the teams. For the non-bandwagon fans out there, your teams carries more intrinisic value. There's no money amount that can be paid to make you change your allegiance. Think about that. Can you be bought out to switch team allegiance?
