i didn't see people praising it
heres the thing …it says over 2,000 people voted for tanashi match of the year..but there is no outlet that shows on tv..so these nerds are tormenting or waiting for the youtube rip

You don't need promos to understand rivalries or feuds in puroresu though. 99% of matches are based on one guy challenging another to prove who is better and who has more "fighting spirit" (that's why there's so much no selling in japanese matches).
Now you can argue that a feud only based on matches and meaningless "press conferences" (where most of the time, nothing interesting is said) are not enough to give a feud a Best Of award. And that's fine. But understanding the rivalry ain't the problem when it comes to puroresu.

I don't think Tanahashi is nearly as good as Meltzer and the Observer crowd think he is. But I don't see nothing wrong with voting for a gut whose main outlet is the internet. Bryan Danielson wouldn't have been known as the best or one of the best wrestlers in the world if you wouldn't accept that kind of exposure.
But then again. I'm pretty sure than most of Tanahashi's votes come from people watching 5-6 of his iPPV matches and taking Dave on his word regarding Tana being "the best main event wrestler evaaaar"

fukk you mean they don't do iPPV?? New Japan has been doing them for almost 2 years now. Last year they had most of their big shows on iPPV, including the entire G-1 Climax tournament.
They even got 100,000 buys for Wrestle Kingdom 7.

I am not huge into NJPW but you you can watch a single match between Okada and [insert name of whoever he is facing] and learn who is who and what is what and see what tropes the wrestlers are playing. I mean...look at the video I posted above and you know everything about him you need to.
