This is one of the worse years ever for rap musically & financially..all that "you're just not looking for the good music" talk is bullshyt too..good hiphop never was this hard to find

Plus the wack ass threads in the booth is another example of how horrible hiphop has become :scusthov:

Damn, didn't realize Coldplay still had that kind of pull, but then again I haven't checked for them in a while. They sold 383k first week and already at 589k. Pharrell's album did exactly as I expected it to. Start out with low sales and slowly keep selling. It's at 469k and will hit gold in a week or two and still keep selling.

....To making black music themselves or listening to white influenced black artists by the looks of that chart :ld:

Also kind of surprise Coldplay is number 1 given that for this album it doesnt seem to be getting the acclaim of previous albums even in terms of radioplay. Them dudes also straight up did a pop EDM record for their new single too :lupe:

Also no major major rappers dropped albums this year yet compared to 2012 and 2013. Those years were low too but Drake, Em, Jay, Kendrick still managed to go plat and other high selling gold or close to gold albums happened like J Cole, GOOD Music, Kanye, Nas, Nicki, Ross, 2 Chainz, Wiz and Ti..

This year been pretty quiet in comparison

Yea YG sold less than 200k albums but has multiple songs off the album certified gold or platinum. Money wise, he's eating. Kid Ink has a gold single as well. Just like the 'Happy' single has sold a couple million songs but 'Girl' itself I think has barely hit gold.

People assume because the album sales are weak no one is eating but Hip Hop, more so than other genres, fans will just cherry pick songs. I am not that surprised by these numbers.

I think most people know the rappers on the list are eating but they dont make much off their singles, all their money is pretty much show money and some sponsorship/branding money, I think the big thing to take away is these dudes are not eating nearly as well as the media promotes, hip hop on a commercial level is in a very tough spot. The Forbes list is complete bullshyt.
