The Pelicans have been “extremely active” in trade talks over the past few days, tweets Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. It’s unclear exactly what sort of deals they’re working on, but they announced last night that center Jason Smith is lost for the season, and they’ve reportedly been seeking a trade for a big man.
In the same piece, Zwerling lists several teams who could be among the league’s buyers and sellers at the trade deadline this season, labeling the 76ers, Jazz, Bucks, Lakers and Bulls are potential sellers, while the Bobcats, Warriors, Knicks, Nets, Cavaliers, Wizards, Suns, Mavericks, and Pistons are potential buyers. According to one executive, the Timberwolves and Nuggets could fall into either group depending on what transpires in the next week or so.

Sources tell Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders that the Pelicans have had a deal in place all season to trade Austin Rivers if he didn’t start seeing minutes. His playing time has perked up of late, and Kyler wonders if the Pelicans are merely showcasing him for other trades. The Pelicans are also open to trading Eric Gordon and Tyreke Evans.

The Bobcats are “kicking around” the idea of trading for Greg Monroe, Kyler writes. He also hears they’d be willing to throw Bismack Biyombo into a Ben Gordon trade to convince teams to take on Gordon’s inflated deal, but as Kyler notes, that wouldn’t do much to persuade reluctant trade partners.

The Sixers could wind up dealing away all of their three veteran trade candidates — Spencer Hawes, Evan Turner and Thaddeus Young — by the deadline, Kyler writes, adding that the Rockets have been targeting Young all season. We heard Young connected to Houston in December, but this is the first report suggesting the Rockets have had interest in him since.

Dion Waiters and Alonzo Gee are the names most frequently mentioned around the league when the subject of Cavs trade candidates comes up, according to Kyler. Cleveland is reluctant to make Anderson Varejao a part of its talks, but the Cavs are coming around to ideas they hadn’t previously considered, Kyler observes, adding that the team looks like it will be a seller, either at the deadline or around draft time.

Almost everyone on the Bucks, outside of Giannis Antetokounmpo and John Henson, is fair game for a trade, according to Kyler, who hears that the Rockets have been eyeing Ersan Ilyasova.

Marcus Thornton and Jimmer Fredette are the Kings that Kyler keeps hearing in trade chatter, but there’s little market for either, he writes.

I heard Philly don't wanna trade Thad Young unless they get a great deal. Turner and Hawes are most likely to be moved. They hanging up the phone on teams calling for Thad.

Q: I understand the Sixers prefer to trade Turner and Hawes, but I would imagine Young is still on the block and has the most value. What do you think the Sixers can get back for him from a team like PHX or HOU? Bill Ingram: I've heard that Philly is turning away from teams calling about Young... Basketball Insiders

According to Chad Ford on ESPN Insider, the 76ers want to trade ET and Hawes but keep Thad Young.

According to Chad Ford of ESPN.com, the Sixers would prefer to keep Young and trade both Hawes and Turner if they can.

"Thaddeus Young has drawn significant interest, but the Sixers would prefer to deal Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes. Both should be moveable, though I doubt either player gets the Sixers what they really want — another pick in the 10-15 range."

The article does say that Thad could still be moved in the right deal for the 76ers, but that the team would want substantial assets.

How the hell has Asik not been traded to ANYONE yet??

And with the emergence of T. Jones do they really need to drastically change their lineup?

Say they land Thad Young some how, they could start him and if they dont trade Jones in the deal, they could move him to the bench. PF isn't deep in Houston.

And fukk Asik, he needs to be humbled.

Eric Gordon will be carefully scrutinized by Milwaukee Bucks officials leading up to the trade deadline.

Gordon has been the subject of trade rumors recently and the Bucks seem to be a team that continues to pop up in those rumors. The oft-injured guard has posted a relatively inconsistent season thus far, but he has managed to only miss three games all year.

John Henson or Sanders have to be in a deal like this right?

BecUse deep down internally Houston doesn't really want to trade Asik unless it brings back a superstar or close to it but they actually want to keep him have him in that orlando gortat role. We,re better with him than without him. We need him for teams like Memphis.

And u better stop negging me fakkit. Don't lemme catch u in the west side(BMore) or DC. Im put them breaks on ur ass.

I remember back in dc there was a rumor about Asik for ginobli, splitter but I didn't believe it.
