Andre Y could be returning for the Ducks OL. :blessed:

Doesnt take the sting away from losing Grasu but it feels a little better.

Great news on Y.

Grasu will be back for the Pac 12 champ game. Still sucks, but a lot better then what it could have been.

Article on ALA playing C-Murder on third down

It was a noticeably different atmosphere inside Bryant-Denny Stadium last Saturday afternoon, a ball of energy fueled by the players' emotion, which in turn fueled the fans, leading to a raucous time for all in crimson and white.

It started with the music selection and the volume nob turned all the way up.

The songs blared a little louder, the bass hit a little harder and the players jumped up and down a little more often.

What was it exactly about Saturday afternoon's environment that led to such a charged atmosphere? Judging by the players' reaction, it was the music playlist.

The Alabama defense is finding energy from the song playlist during home games and hopes it continues.
On nearly every defensive third down Saturday afternoon against Mississippi State, the same bass line from a song by hip hop artist C-Murder played over the stadium's speakers, and, as if on cue, UA defensive linemen began jumping around and throwing their hands in the air to pump up the crowd.
"Once they play the song, we get up with (the crowd) and just do our thing after that," junior safety Landon Collins said after the game.

In years past, it was AC/DC's "Hells Bells" that was played on third downs. This season, at least during the last two home games against Texas A&M and particularly against Mississippi State, it's been the same hip hop song.

The defensive players love it.

"We're already a fired up team, so you play music we like, we jam up to, and we get more fired up with it," sophomore defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson said.

The stadium playlist has also included player favorites "We Dem Boyz" by Wiz Khalifa and "No Flex Zone" by Rae Sremmurd.

"We kind of remixed (No Flex Zone), to call it No Fly Zone," senior defensive back Nick Perry said. "So in our head, every time they play that, No Fly Zone, it's like this song is definitely for us."

Fans also reacted to the entrance music of former World Wrestling Entertainment's "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

And it wasn't just recorded music played over the speakers. The Million Dollar Band was mic'd, or at it least sounded like it was, contributing to an atmosphere that UA coach Nick Saban said was "what college football is all about," following the 25-20 win over the then-No. 1 Bulldogs.

More goes into creating the game atmosphere than meets the eye. A group of UA officials meet the week of home games to determine what videos will be played on the jumbotrons and what music will be played during the game.

Alabama head strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran, who has a good idea of what songs give the players energy from their daily interactions in the weight room, sometimes makes suggestions to the group on ideas for songs.

Whether or not the songs have any tangible benefit is hard to measure, but, at least gauging by the players' response, it does give the team more energy.

Saban had a bit of fun with a question about the music selection during his Monday afternoon press conference, saying he's never put music selection down in his notes as a significant factor in how the team played.

"If it's helping us win, I'm all for it," Saban joked.

With two home games remaining, Saban may get a chance to analyze his defense's response to music that feeds them energy. For their part, his players hope the song selection continues.

"When (the defensive line) is hyped and they're jumping up and down and when they're putting pressure on the quarterback it makes our job a lot easier," Perry said. "So whatever can get those guys hyped like that, whatever song they're playing, they need to continue that."
