Morris was holding out to see if Dabo was gonna take that job in Gainesville....guess they didn't move fast enough for him. He could've gotten a way better job last off season compared to this
and they were impatient with Pellini....they haven't seen squat yet. Plus I think Johnson would go back to one of the service academies before he took on a gig that required him to be at a certain level yr in and out
Yeah seems like Chad waited too long.
The only thing on CPJ is that Tech isn't sitting on a lot of $. If another job came in and wanted to out bid them it could happen. That's general talk not specific to a particular job.

Ehh....that's tough cause I don't think GT is going to get any better overall than they are. I think he's done all he can do at GT with the style of play Johnson runs...

Can't say I was surprised by Morris going back home. I mean he grew up 1hrs away from Dallas so this is like a homecoming for him. You also have to remember that when he was younger SMU was actually a powerhouse [albeit cheating one] so he's happy about going home. He promised his daughter he'd wait until she graduated...that's the only reason he didn't jump at a job last season. She finishes school this June and his wife will stay behind until she finishes. Venables would get the HC job before Morris because while we love the offense Morris gave us...Clemson alumni would rather had a great defense.
I can see Chad doing what Gus Malzahn did when he went to Arkansas State and guided them to a 9-3 record and got the Auburn job. Chad can only improved upon a 0-11 season and considering he's has coach HS football all over Texas he already has a footprint in the area. He's coached in the Dallas areas [several HS's], the Austin area, the Houston area and basically the edge of east texas not to far from Shreveport, LA. Mr. Red Bull will be missed breh...i can't front like it doesn't suck but we've been expecting him to leave so it wasn't a shock.

Which is why I think he'd prefer going back to a service academy or a school like a GT, Purdue, etc....not expecting titles, just respectability and bowls....an ocassional conference 'ship or playing for one....I really think he wouldn't last long at a place with expectations....I think Frost leaps for this gig tho

While I wouldn't say a "done deal", it would be surprising if he did turn it down since he's been offered the job. He better get the hell outta Ole Miss while he can. Don't think he can MAINTAIN that a program at a high level as easy as it is to do af UF.

Especially next year with all we'll have on defense. The word is what you're all reading too; he's weighing the $4.3 mill a year offer from us and seeing what Ole Miss has to counter. If he uses us to get himself a raise at Ole Miss, it would really confirm we've fallen all the way off
