I'm worried about Hibbert getting abused in pick and rolls out west. Kyrie was the only point in the east who could shoot (and Dragic after the Heat got him). It's a lot easier to lay back when Wall, Lowry, Teague, etc. are launching bricks instead of Curry, Paul, Lillard, Conley, Harden, Parker and Westbrook shooting.Lakers are going all the way in with Randle's development, first signing MWP & now James Worthy as apart of the coaching staff.
They were saying Russell was hurt going into Summer League, but played through it & looked much better in the practices recently. Clarkson should be in store for a big year, probably is our best player. Hibbert won't provide much on offense, but with his presence alone in the paint, he should improve this defense a ton just by himself. I would like to see if he can make the Lakers defense jump to at least to 20th to 18th ranked defense in the league. Last year with the Pacers, the Pacers were a top 5 defense and that was without Paul George and George Hill & D-West missing a bunch of games. Granted he had Frank Vogel though.
That perimeter defense is going to be bad though. Only thing you can do is to just funnel the opposing ball handlers to Hibbert. Hopefully Kobe is on the court for more than half of the season. But, the season & going forward will hinge on if at least one of Russell, Clarkson, or Randle become a franchise player. Best case scenario is two of them become franchise players.
I agree that Clarkson is probably the best player on the team and I hope Kobe takes advantage of that to conserve himself. This is the first time since Van Exel he's played with a PG who could break down a defense. I think they should bring Russell off the bench to start the season too, because Kobe is not going to hold up playing the three all season. Just too much to ask of him at his age.
Randle needs to have his jumper down or he's gonna have a tough season. He looked a little lost in summer league and didn't seem to have much confidence in his shot. Hopefully that changes throughout training camp and the preseason.

defending the pick n roll. Even with Shaq, PG's have always have & always will kill the Lakers, its just the way its been historically. Looking back with Pau as the rim protector, we had Odom who was actually really good as a pick n roll defender because he could switch on any ball handler & had Ariza/Artest as the wing defender. The team really needs Anthony Brown to be able to get going & be the 3 & D wing player, especially since he should pro ready. I would prefer not wanting Kobe to play the 3, but its all about Russell, Randle, & Clarkson's development going forward & they all need as much playing time together.
