I think we can all agree that Beal contract is a bit wild, but what's the alternative for Washington? Somebody was gonna offer Beal the max anyway and letting him go isn't an option

He's still really young and he's played well in the postseason.

That's the only positive I can think of.

Kid has been average... makes me wish they extended him in October.

If he were willing to sign back then then yeah that would've been smart. Looking back the Raptors were ahead of the curve locking Jo Val up before he could hit this market and get a probable max

Still Beal has shown flashes of star caliber ability and is young as you said, so it's not so bad for a franchise like Washington who couldn't afford to lose him. Maybe they can make a few quality additions before he signs the contract and the Wiz field a good playoff team next year
