Stacey Augmon to join Bucks coaching staff

The Milwaukee Bucks are closing in on the hiring of ‎longtime NBA swingmanStacey Augmon to join their coaching staff, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that Augmon is expected to formally join the Bucks before the start of training camp later this month after working with their summer-league team in July.

The former University of Nevada-Las Vegas star, who played in the NBA for 15 seasons, spent the past five years as an assistant coach at his alma mater.

Augmon had hoped to be considered for the UNLV head-coaching job after the departure of Dave Rice and expressed "disappointment" to the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he was passed over for the job. The position first ‎went to Chris Beard, then was given to Marvin Menzies after Beard lasted only a week before taking the job at Texas Tech.

Before his coaching stint at UNLV, Augmon served as an assistant coach with the Denver Nuggets for four years.

Augmon played for the Hawks, Blazers, Hornets, Magic and Pistons in his NBA career. He averaged 8.0 points and 3.2 rebounds overall but posted 13.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in his first five seasons with Atlanta.
