The War Report
NewNewYork
The thing is that FA isn't the same as it use to be. Teams are retaining their talent, so The Yankees can't poach other team's talent. Revenue sharing and these new TV deals are giving these teams an influx of cash. In 3 years The Yankees will have lots of money, the same time Harper is a FA. I wouldn't be surprised if they both signed Jose Fernandez and Harper.Besides Tanaka and Ellsbury, none of those other acquisitions were considered big-time FAs, my point was that the Yankees aren't gonna spend money on every big-time FA like they did in the early 2000s. Sure, they overdid it with Ellsbury (I didn't understand that one honestly), but they aren't trying to just have roster filled with high-priced FAs all over the place. I like the fact they are making an honest attempt of re-building the roster slowly within through the farm system.
