Los Angeles Clippers forward Luc Mbah a Moute will decline his player option for the 2017-18 season and test the open market,
according to Chris Haynes of ESPN.com.
Mbah a Moute would have made $2.3 million next year had he picked up the option.
The 30-year-old Cameroon native averaged 6.1 points and 2.1 rebounds per game in 80 contests last season, starting 76 of them. He played 22.3 minutes a night and shot 50.5 percent from the floor while making 39.5 percent from three-point range.
Mainly a defensive specialist, Mbah a Moute has been in the NBA for nine seasons.
He played his college basketball at UCLA and was originally selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round (37th pick overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft.
Mbah a Moute played in all 82 games for the Bucks during his rookie season and started 52 contests. He recorded 7.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in 25.8 minutes.
He spent five years with Milwaukee before being traded to the Sacramento Kings for a future second-round pick that would turn out to be 2016-17 NBA Rookie of the Year Malcolm Brogdon.
The Kings then sent him to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Derrick Williams, and that offseason, he was sent to the Philadelphia 76ers as part of a three-team deal that routed Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Clippers signed Mbah a Moute as a free agent in September 2015 and he proceeded to stay two seasons with Los Angeles.
After coming off the most efficient offensive season of his career (58.1 percent true shooting percentage), Mbah a Moute may end up getting a multi-year contract from somebody.
