What didn't we understand breh :dwillhuh:
I don't know what YOU didn't understand but a lot of the criticism against the game was odd.
It had long cut scenes. Every MGS game before it had long cut scenes and with this being the last in the story of Solid Snake it should have been expected.
The gameplay was the best of the series up until that point.
The graphics were great and the story final came to a close.
As a fan of the entire series I thought the game was a good send off for Solid Snake and playing through it had a bitter sweet feeling knowing this was going to be his last mission.
It achieved something no other MGS game has been able to do as well; it gave the player closure.
By itself MGS4 could be seen as a weak game, but as a farewell to Solid Snake and the final game in a long series of great games I thought it was great.

Thing is though, every other MGS game had great gameplay in between those cutscenes. I've played MGS4 once and only once because I was appalled at how disappointing it was. After Act 2, it just falls apart.

I don't care how anyone feels about Raiden, straight up as a game, there's no way in hell 4 is better than 2.

When it was released, Crash Team Racing > any Mario Kart.

Modnation Racers is criminally underrated. The load times are too long, but the gameplay is extremely satisfying and the customized karts you can get are great.

Media Molecule, not Bethesda, gets the biggest pass from gamers and the media. Their games have charm, but the way they get hyped and covered makes you think everything is revolutionary. Nothing they've made has wowed me.

Besides online infrastructure, Microsoft has brought nothing worthwhile to the gaming industry. We would be better off if Samsung or some other tech company got in the mix and MS bowed out.
