Koch was more an alternative to the majors for solid indie distribution of music and movies. They weren't signing everybody, they had platform in which people could distribute music and get a good return, they also did distributions for other labels. That's how indie distribution operates.
Completely different business model. But something that would've been really dope if a black dude could start in these internet times where management is the key and money is not as important.

At Roc Nation they are taking an off brand artist like Mariah Carey and managing her catalogue, getting it into movies, giving her I don't know what shoes or a perfume and shyt like that.

shyt, I don't know. The game is in shabbles today. In terms of new talent? I don't know man. Cause the scale for what's considered great today is below average and what is good gets overrated cause of the non existent great shyt not coming out. I don't really see anything "elite" in today's good. A couple cool and good cats in the game but nobody I would call elite.

To me, the bar was lowered on what's great, good and wack in the late 90's. It was like a shift and then when the 2000's hit it just went haywire and crazy.
