Easily one of the most depressing and distressing decades

GEORGE FLOYD's DEATH

Racism has always been a cornerstone in American society. The covert systematic racism in America is undeniable.

The devastating death of George Floyd was heartbreaking. Being kneeled on his neck by 3 cops screaming "I can't breathe!" brought out a lot of anger! A lot of rage!

The protests about justice and equality went beyond America's borders! Paris, London, Rio de Janeiro, Nairobi. George Floyd's death highlighted the racial inequalities in other countries.

Honestly, will things ever change regarding black folks and police brutality? We should continue to fight injustice and inequality as long as we're alive.

COVID-19

The outbreak of Covid-19. Nobody knew this pandemic would impact the world today. Over a million people died in less than a year! That's wild:gucci:

Covid-19 exposed how toxic people really was. Covid-19 shifted the way we worked -- from the office towards working home. Covid made us more self-conscious about our health -- facial masks, hand sanitizers, washing our hands more frequently. Covid-19 affected social gatherings, nightclubs declining.

It was the first time cities were empty and desolated. No person in sight. Everybody was inside quarantining. A time where no cure was possible, nobody wasn't trying to risk getting infected.

ISRAEL VS PALESTINE

One of the worst atrocities exerted in the modern era.

First, we have to acknowledge that HAMAS isn't Palestine. HAMAS is a religious extremist terrorist group that uses Palestine as a cover up.

Palestine and Israel had political tensions since the 20th century over land, but as soon as Israel declared war, it has escalated into hell on earth.

Adults and children being held as hostages. HAMAS beheading hostages at stake. Shelters being bombed. Locals crying for their lives in the mist of terror. Just so sad.

More than 15,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since October 7!

An estimated 5,500 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip since October 7! according to Gaza's government media office, amid widespread airstrikes by the Israeli military.

IDF might be the extremist. They were shooting at random folks during the “ceasefire”. They’ve killed +6000 children. +15000 people since October 7th. Netanyahu is a war criminal. Most of the people in power now in Israel changed their names to seem like they we’re actually from the area and not Europe

There are way more pivitol events than this that have happened in the past.

Covid-19 was a global pandemic, but cannot compare to the Spanish Flu or Bubonic Plague in terms of death toll where a significant percentage of humanity was wiped out.

George's Floyd's death was horrible, but there have been many pivotol socio-political movements throughout the course of history. The Civil Rights Movement comes to mind.

Israel-Palestine war while terrible, but does not even come close in terms of the ethnic turmoil that Rwanda witnessed where nearly a million Tutsis were wiped out. Also, the world has not witnessed conflict at any point in history like it did in WW2.

I'd say we are at the best period in terms of human civilization, though we seem to have peaked in the 90s in terms of global economic growth. I also think current rapid advancements technology only serve to harm the workforce as supposed to supporting it...A.I is an example. Plus we are going to have looming challenges such as peak oil, and politically we may see another spread or fascism in the West.

Not even close. The 80s, 70s、40s, and 60s were exponentially worse.

The coldwar fckery in the 60s and 80s destabilized the world and killed dramatically more people than COVID did. Keep in mind only 7million people out of 8 billion were actually killed by covid. Remember Vietnam's portion of cold war killed 2million people as a single engagement when there were less than half as many people on earth as there are currently. And there were half a dozen other wars going on in the 70s at the same time.

And no. George Floyd isn't moving the needle at all if you consider life before the 1950s when every decade would have dozens of George Floyd -esque race killings.

Objectively speaking, out of the 10 decades within the 20th century 6 of them were absolute garbage for the world.
