These restructures lower your current year cap hit in exchange for instant money you get in the form of a check. There's no downside to it at all for the player.
For the team it's robbing peter to pay paul, they get cap relief now but push that money down the road and guarantee it vs the cap. That's how the cowboys ended up with $20m in dead-cap hits after Romo retired.
yeah the only time Russ restructured is to get the Duane Brown deal done. Id like him to do it now to get them some cap room but they scheduled to have like top 5 in cap room next year since they aint done it since.
But they about to trade him anyways and take a 40 mill hit
