Problem with Dalton (and its not really Dalton's fault. Its Nagy's fault)

Even if Dalton is a better practice player it truly doesnt matter. There's no real upside with him. At least Alex Smith was on pace to have a really good season with the Chiefs.

These are critical practice/preseason reps that could have been used to speed up Fields development. Instead he's acting like he's Andy Reid and going to win the division with this guy. Its not happening. Might as well get the young guy ready.

Also for Nagy....why hold Fields to Mahomes standard?

If "Mahomes wasnt ready to play then I cant play for Fields. Or Fields doesnt look as good as Mahomes as a rookie so I cant start him." Thats just a terrible way to go about developing a young QB.

If you're scared of playin him vs the Rams. Then just go about it differently. Make it a real competition...but still give Fields more reps in practice/preseason so he's prepared. Let Dalton get crushed vs. the Rams and then start Fields the following week. Then he's at least been well prepared.

Now he's not as prepared and you're going to be forced to bench Andy anyway eventually.
