Salary cap makes no sense
Chiefs were over the cap a day ago restructure contracts and can now sign a huge player
Packers are gonna lose their best Olineman
Is it just certain teams know how to manipulate the cap and others don’t?
It's all about contract structure. You can have $5m in capspace this offseason and still hand out a $80m contract, it'll just be structured something like this :
2021 : 4m cap hit
2022 : 23m cap hit
2023 : 30m cap hit
2024 : 23m cap hit
Obviously, you want it to be more balanced than that but you can always rob peter to pay paul. If the Packers lose their best OL it's gonna be because they don't think he's worth the money or length of deal, not because they can't afford it.
