Ehh, the Phils have always been willing to spend. He walked into a ready made situation that was going to spend money and gut the farm system.
It works when you're going all out but it isn't like Dombrowski is pulling off some wizardry in Philly. Lotta guys could do this if they were given the freedom to do so.
Even with that being said, they only made the playoffs because it was expanded this season.
In a couple years, he'll probably get fired or resigned when the team is older, capped out with nothing in the farm system. That's what he always does. Goes to a team, exhausts all their resources, then leaves the mess for somebody else to clean up.
