I don't think the NFL is going to put a team that finished the previous season 1-10 in that spot even with all the additions they made just because of the unknown of whether they'll come together and even be good to start off.
At least with the Lions two years ago playing the Chiefs, they finished the season strong and were over .500

I'd bet on the Rams before the Lions. NFL gave the HOF (pre-season) game to the Lions so I doubt we open both the pre-season and the regular season.
Philly v Rams makes a lot of sense. Rematch, first look at Davante Adams, etc. BTW if I had to bet on who the Lions play week one it'll be at Chicago. Ben Johnson vs his old team is the type of narrative the NFL loves.
