He didn't do himself any favors with the text exchange from the victim.

He ended last season on IR due to a neck injury, and it looks like he just had surgery back in April. Looks like his name is being dropped by a lot of team centric writers, so it seems like he's got people trying to get his name out there. The neck injury is scaring off GMs for whatever price he's probably asking for.

Plus he's skinny so he doesn't help in the run game and isn't a great tackler. Would I take him on my squad (Lions) as depth? Sure. But I don't see a path for him starting for an NFL team outside of GB who literally has no depth there.

I feel there’s something about his neck injury that isn’t being said. Last year, Harbaugh mentioned something to the effect of Asante having a tough decision to make with support from his family.

Beyond that, he’s a ball hawk in every sense of the word. But an absolute liability in defending the run, and he’s a terrible tackler.
