No doubt, I don't think anyone overlooks that at this point - but Tua's almost become such a punching bag he's morphed into a scapegoat for the roster falling apart and HC being in over his head.

Specifically on McDaniel, I knew it was worse than we thought when he spoke last offseason about how fining players doesn't make them show up on time. Him and Fangio should've been a diet Reid/Spags where both sides are squeezing so much out of their units that upgrading the QB became the obvious elephant in the room to get over the hump. Instead he let a bunch of dudes who aren't even there anymore (Ramsey, Holland, Xa Howard) start a mutiny against Vic and run him out of town - just so he could win a SB running a great defense elsewhere the very next season.

He'll be an OC for someone at his next stop and probably get a crack at the main job one more time, but he's gonna have to evolve a ton when that day comes.

He’ll probably end up like a Josh McDaniels. Difference with Josh McDaniels is he had been with the Patriots for years, knew Vrabel, loved by Kraft, and had the owner willing to make him paid almost as much as a head coach. He has to be living the dream.

McDaniel is still only 42. He's definitely gonna get one more go round on the coaches carousel after a successful OC stint. He's gotta be super careful about the next job he takes - very rare to get three chances

Some coaches are just better suited as coordinators. Mind of like a Mike Martz or Norv Turner.

Good offensive mind, is pretty horrible about everything else required at being a successful HC.

He's gonna be a great OC for someone in 2026

I agree with both of y'all, but it's MUCH easier to fix the McDaniel problem. He's done after this season. Tua's extension is a cap albatross until 2027 at least even if they cut him. It's not just his play being bad.

"Make Lamar beat you with his arm"

Richard Sherman actually uttered that. His career in media has been a massive fukking flop

Player-turned-commentators love destroying their own credibility with the shock value takes

shyt sucks too because Sherman actually smart too, but only doing dumb takes and letting his personal ego get in the way of analysis

Doesn't sound like it's about the injury anymore, sounds like Gannon's trying to keep his job and the locker room by playing his best option :mjpls:

He's extremely unlikeable, thinks far too highly of himself as a player (wouldn't cover opposing #1's consistently, and will blame it on scheme), and can't let this entire Russell Wilson talk go.

I think most of the former NFL players that have become commentators or have their own podcasts have actually been great for the most part. There are always going to be those going for shock value or just being ass-holes, but I think most of the NFL players I've seen become commentators or ones that have their own podcasts have been really good.

Sherman is not included in that group.
