NHL lost it will never grow it is what it is it had a chNce and blew it..

Now MLS and WNBA get higher ratings than the nhl

Top NHL guys are signing for 10th men NBA salaries

You think new teams in Georgia & Texas will help?

Get the black & Hispanic population excited about the game, start some local leagues etc. Krause (dude who wants to bring a team to Atlanta) has plans to expand the hockey footprint and culture of the state. He wants to invest in youth, high school & the college teams we have.

Could take a while to see the impacts of that though

A big problem for hockey is that it is so expensive to play.

A big problem for hockey is that it is so expensive to play.

I’m trying to learn how to play street hockey. Skates cost me $125 at dikks & I found a stick at Play It Again Sports for $20 :mjlol:

But before that I was looking online, & the quality skates & sticks were like $700-2000.

Someone would making a killing & a lot of friends by making quality equipment for prices every day folks can afford

We’re losing our sports broadcasting legends

Bob Cole died last year

And Don Cherry called it quits for good a week ago , no more podcasts shows. I guess for age and health related reasons

Joe Bowen is to the leafs what Tom cheek and Jerry howarth were to the blue jays

And what don shulman is to the blue jays right now

And what chuck swirsky was to the raptors two decades ago

And what jack armstrong/matt Devlin/leo ray Utica/alvin Williams are to the raptors right now

I grew up on Joe Bowen calling Leafs games on radio and on TV

With Harry Neale or Jim Ralph he was great and entertaining

I wish the leafs win the Stanley cup next year as a final gift for him.

Comparing contracts in the NHL to those in the NBA is pretty foolish. The NBA generates about 70% more revenue and has fewer players. And, if you’re a starter, NBA teams will throw a lot of money at you with the way teams are built in the NBA.

In regards to the game becoming more popular, it’s definitely the sport out of the major four where it’s the most difficult because you need a rink. For basketball, football, and baseball, there are PLENTY of fields and courts, and you don’t need an actual field to practice. Paying for ice time is really expensive, and the equipment is not cheap either. It’s likely never really going to have the same amount of popularity as some of the other major sports, but a lot of that is just due to barriers of entry.
