i'm banned from that thread (obviously ), but you're right about them only caring about this conflict. there's like a hundred other wars going on right now, but crashing out over Palestine, despite having zero connection to it, gives them a sense of purpose, and that they're "fighting the system/jews", etc

and i don't even disagree with these dudes; of course what israel is doing is disgusting. but i'll be damned if i let that supersede domestic issues over here

and the way that they throw around judgment is a bunch of bullshyt. "if you're not as passionate about palestine as i am, and you acknowledge that Hamas has played some part in all this, you're a genocide supporter" who does that actually work on?

How low is the bar?

I don't think it is a low bar and that's part of the issue

the city has gotten incredibly filthy and it has a huge impact quality of life

city agencies have declined significantly in their effectiveness

corruption is at an all time high

Rents have remained out of control. I think a lot of the city's recent attempts at what they thought would alleviate the housing crisis have backfired spectacularly. We need more investment and construction but not at the expense or quality of life for existing residents.

mental health crisis

subway still needs investment

some businesses taxes and regulations have become too bloated

inflation/cost for materials is still too high

public salaries are still too low
