I’m pretty sure Cuomo will win this as people just see him as the biggest Anti Trump candidate. Black folks from Laurelton, Cambria, and Brooklyn will eventually leave Adams and coalesce around Cuomo.
It’s hard to win on a progressive platform in NYC because NYC already has a lot of Progressive policies:
Free College at CUNY and SUNY(if you make under 150,000)
Free Certifications and Free Trade school at the community college level
Automatic enrollment in NY Medicaid (Health First) if you don’t have insurance which guarantees health care
Strong DEI in the NYC curriculums, etc
The biggest issue is housing affordability and Kathy Hochul seems adamant about taking that over and instituting her policies. I like Zohran a lot but he’s in a tough spot.

despite reddit and the astro turfing proclamations - went to a mayoral candidate forum in manhattan yesterday and pretty sure cuomo is going to take it- there were 3 other really good candidates but the progressive ( read young white voter ) has already made up its mind and they are going for Baby Hamas Mandani...
however the actual room was populated by those that vote in the greatest number and in the most progressive school in the most progressive area of manhattan only smattering were actual young people ( those less than 35 years old ) ....like maybe 10 out of 250 people that bothered to show up ....unlike those that are the main audience in tiktok and bluesky videos talking of a change that we need....
so pretty much its going to be the olds that decide this election ( like always ) and pretty much outside of manhattan the winner MIGHT be cuomo...
or in the irony of irony - Adams might just squeak this out because of how ranked voting works and the contest will be those who just gave up versus those who hate adams or cuomo more turnout.......and progressives will toss away rank choice voting to decide things.....

I keep telling folks that the City Council would have you believe that this place is a lot more progressive than it actually is and those same electeds are all special interest group puppets from from the RE Industry to the Transportation Industry.
The party is about to be over and not a minute too soon.
