I thought the same when the rightwing Belgrade mayor (that I hate lol) made the public transit free in Belgrade Serbia (city of 1.6m with no subway, relying on trams, buses and trolleybuses).he's gonna have to backtrack on some of this shyt. i can already tell that free buses is a bad idea
just make it a dollar, but you want every who gets on public transportation to have some sense of agency. making them free will worsen an experience that no one likes already; more crowded, more fukkery, not to mention all the lost revenue
i take the bus in vegas sometimes, one goes by my house to go to the strip. i straight up wouldn't even want it to be free
He cut the vending machinary and app and controllers managed by a private company (drivers didn't control nor sell sell tickets, there was a whole system for this that he cut), and it's been working fine for a year and a half just fine.
The city was already subsidizing the system so much that with the cost cutting of private company works out just fine.
Buses are faster without everyone registering their bus card at the doors...
If you want to make it cost just a dollar, it makes sense to just cut the whole system.
That ship has already sailed. We got away this time but trust the usual suspects are ready to blame black people like usual if he doesn’t win. Something the left and right will always agree on is if they don’t get their way it’s black peoples fault.
