Just this alone makes him one of the most important Democrats in the country though most people don’t realize that yet

[Quoted tweet]
Wait when did he get 2 million followers on instagram??!

Of course republicans are praising him today. Majorie Taylor Greene just praised him

They’re doing cartwheels and salivating at the thought of this guy becoming the Mayor of NYC so they can beat dems over the head with ads in 26’ and 28’
These Republicans have been beating up on tomato can do-nothing Dems for so long that they think Mamdani would be a layup because they're used to being able to do stupid fearmongering about identity without any powerful policy pushback. Mamdani ain't no do-nothing Dem though, he comes from the Democratic Socialist tradition, not the Neoliberal tradition. He'll smoke the Republicans. Bannon understands this better than most of these other Republican morons.

@DarrigoMelanie
Weird how everyone wanted affordable groceries until the Dem nominee for NYC mayor had a policy to actually do it.

The reason conservative politicians are attacking Zohran Mamdani is because he’s reminding people that it’s their job to help their constituents, not their donors.

2/11
@MartinDressel
What's his policy? He has dreams, I have dreams. I'm a lot older than Mr. Mamdani, and I have learned that radicalism goes nowhere. Progress is made step by step, never overnight.

3/11
@DarrigoMelanie
Progress has been halted and rolled back since Citizens United. His policy is one non-profit, government-financed grocery store in each borough that sells staples like milk, eggs, bread, etc, at cost. If that is considered radical, then we've lost the thread.

4/11
@citygalsports
Well he’s brown duh. They only want white old man savior.

5/11
@trulyobjective
People wanted a lower cost of living after Biden.

Government control of food is not what they wanted.

This has never worked before.

Supermarkets are a low margin business even with their buying power of scale.

Several government owned supermarkets will not be able to offer a much better price than large supermarkets if they can even offer food at the same price.

The government markets will cost a fortune to bullied out, manage and will operate at a loss forcing new taxation to pay for their operation.

This is another example of prying on the uninformed promising to deliver something the government can not while forcing out small businesses.

6/11
@GeorgeRosaJRCR
As long as constituents sit and whine and do NOTHING about it, donors own this country!

7/11
@WazzupDoc7
What makes you think his policy will "actually do it"?

If a supermarket operates at a profit margin of 2% then a nonprofit doing the same thing could sell for how much less?

8/11
@stevel1024
It’s not their job to help any group

9/11
@fran_ms_
trump's donors forced cuomo to run as an independent.

that's all you need to know.

elite billionaires are scared, that's a good sign.

10/11
@AlfredMaidlow
Not a policy, just more candidate BS. As long as the Democratics spout the same s#!t as the Magats, they don't stand a chance.

@ryangrim
Hopefully the right will continue thinking Mamdani is only appealing to hipsters or focus on his religion and miss what Bannon sees.

[Quoted tweet]
Close Trump ally Steve Bannon tells me Republicans should take the Mamdani win in NYC seriously.

“He did something that AOC and Bernie haven’t been able to do – he connected populism to affordability," Bannon told me.

“Republicans better start taking this guy seriously and they better stop wishing that he wins and they will automatically run against his policies in 2026. This guy is a very skilled politician. He’s clearly had a lot of training. He’s got radical ideas, but he presents them in a sunny upbeat way and people feel like he’s fighting for them, particularly on an issue that Republicans haven’t connected on yet: affordability.”

I'll have an exclusive interview with @ZohranKMamdani on @MeetThePress this Sunday.

Zohran Mamdani is saying things like “poverty is a policy choice and politicians have a duty to their constituents to make their lives affordable” and it is making a lot of politicians very very scared that they may actually have to start doing some actual service in their public service jobs.

2/33
🆔 nikitagill.bsky.social
This skeet has broken through containment and reached the Online Twat Brigade so replies are going to be switched off.

The more Republicans and establishment Dems bytch and whine, the more you know Mamdani's right.

compassionate societies define success by the paucity of poor people;
cruel societies define success by the grotesque wealth of the few, pretending the burgeoning poverty is the fault of poor people and not policies;

It's not a policy choice. It's absolutely your fault if you choose not to be born into a super rich family. Or if you choose not to get a hugely lucky break in life. Or if you choose to have bad things happen. Or if you choose to get sick. Or.....

We need to remove the temptation of money from the campaign system by funding the elections from the treasury. Televise more cheaply with CSPAN & local channels & YouTube & Twitch.

Either making a rule that only campaigns can make campaign ads and only a set funded number, or just ban ads so the supreme court can’t rule that the rich can make them. And there needs to be an instant penalty of removal from the election or won seat, for blatant falsehoods.

There is a whole class of political leadership that was trained on the idea that politics is fundamentally about tricking the poors and stupids into giving you (and your donors, who are more important and majestic than the hoi polloi) power instead of a way to channel popular will towards better ends. They've been weaned on superflous shyt like the image spectacle so their bodies literally cannot process the real food Mamdani is serving.
