The lack of gratitude is why Trump got elected, discontent should be expressed but gratitude should also be acknowledged. If Americans had a realistic perspective of our living conditions in this country Trump wouldn’t have won. Trump exploited flaws in human psychology to gain power and our desire for “change” for the sake of “change” will make us change for the worse under this administration.

The grass isn’t always greener

Gratitude to whom for what? Living in the richest country in human history while being drowned in debt with no opportunity to own anything and increasingly sliding into a modern serf socio-economic system on the wrong side of the massively expanding wealth gap and watching your "democratic" representatives finding unlimited money to hand out to their rich donors and murder people overseas while telling you there's no change in the couch cushions for your healthcare or childcare or buses? You know what, you're right, Trump didn't tell people that they should be grateful for this collapsing standard of living, he told them to be angry about it, and he won. Democrats have been telling people they should be grateful for their shrinking rations of gruel, and lost. But the lesson you take away from this - like a pre-Revolutionary monarchist - is that the ingrate public is the problem.

Yes the public is the problem, everything you mention as being “bad” Trump ran on making it worse. The big beautiful bill is going to exacerbate everything you’re complaining about, so yes a little bit of gratitude would have avoided us this fate.

My point is change for the sake of change isn’t necessarily a good thing and Trump is proving that.
