There are legitimate critiques of the police, but people have to understand that anti-police messaging is basically political suicide.

Activists on the left made a big mistake by coining the phrase "defund the police." I actually understand and essentially agree with what they were proposing, but their messaging was awful. They could have come up with a much better slogan that would have better represented their goals and would not have scared the shyt out of normies.

The obvious solution was “reform the police” which it would have been hard to argue against reforming in the midst of the public backlash and then behind the scenes just defund them as a part of that reform. But our friends have never met a good political fight they wouldn’t mind striking out on.

The problem with the left (and I consider myself part of the left) is that too many of us get a thrill from saying things that are provocative and edgy. We need to understand that the excitement of revolutionary rhetoric is not worth it if it leads to nothing happening. I wish there was focus on revolutionary action presented in an exciting, but nonthreatening and common sense way that normies could get behind.
