If Sinners wins best picture it will be up there with Green Book and Crash as the worst Best Picture winners of all time. You cannot watch that movie and tell me it's a Best Picture winner.
Breh, fukking F1 was nominated and you have issue with sinners? A movie that touches on some awesome specific southern history and has outstanding performances? No wonder you have a sellout ass bleached avatar.

Bruh some of these online black social commentators are woat

They were talking bout "we don't care what white people think about black art" if a white person said Sinners was mid but now they're out here celebrating being recognized by the white academy :stopitslime:
Here's the thing you're missing:

You can not care about their approval but you have to welcome the award. The reason why is because FUNDING of our stories and SALARIES of our actors are gatekept by studios by these awards

Academy Award nominated actors, directors, producers, sound engineers, etc, demand more money. They can green light movies others can't.

Coogler and peele have a much easier job doing ANYTHING than they did before their awards, and than those without.

Money and access is gatekept by accolades. It isn't right, but this is why people are happy.

I have no problem with Sinners being nominated, I said it doesn't deserve to win. F1 winning would be an even bigger disgrace, but it doesn't have any stans saying it should win. There are always 1 or 2 completely mid films nominated for Best Picture, Sinners is fine as a nominee.

It is definitely better than anora, a movie fukking nobody has talked about in a year, but I'm done talking about this subject with you tbh

Interestingly enough, no one is talking about the Smashing Machine. I though at the very least Emily Blunt would get the nod. I also would've liked to see a push for Johnathan Majors Magazine Dreams. The fact that he wasn't nominated for anything in this awards season was unfortunate.

One Battle doesn’t really deserve the big prizes this year but it’ll get them because its PTA’s “time”. Best Director and Adapted Screenplay are 100% his. More than likely Best Picture too although history will tell the truth that its Sinners.

Sinners deserves each and every nomination it got although it’ll more than likely only win Original Screenplay, Score, Casting, and mayyybeee Production Design. But shoutouts to Delroy Lindo and MBJ for their first Oscar noms.

Cool to see F1 get some deserved nominations. That film admittedly hit every cliche in the book but it did so with heart and style. Brad Pitt and Damson Idris both brought depth and humanity to what could have been some shallow characters.

I still have my fingers crossed for Sinners, but I don't trust Hollywood to do the right thing, watch OBAA or Hamnet win big :beli:

I'm so happy for Lindo, well earned nomination

Rock took one hell of an L, I never understood the 'Oscar buzz' around his performance, he did will in comparison to his other roles but no way was it Oscar worthy and the film was trash.

Hollywood needs to crown the Young Lord Chalamet, but I can see Moura or Hawke winning instead.

F1 is fun film but best picture :patrice:

'And then I said, what if I pivot away from all nominations to shine a light on Hollywood, that's mana'

I think a Golden Globe nom was enough for Blunt's role

It's a damn shame what happened to Majors because he put on an Oscar worthy performance and with the right campaign who knows what would have happened. I still hope he has a redemption arc but that seems a while away if ever
