You don't have to toughen up. If something is unacceptable, you speak out against it and stand up to it. Call people out on their BS :tu:
It's funny you mention that, because hairy ass legs, vag, and pits are unacceptable and I will call you out on it. :scusthov:

Feminist be like "I'm gonna be as disgusting as humanly possible and you're just gonna accept it! GOT IT?!"

:snoop: Most ITT are cool with the advertisements. Most men I know are cool with them. Most women I know are cool with them. I'm sure that you can find some ultra-granola guy that will love you despite your body hair, but you're not going to shame people into thinking that it isn't attractive or unattractive. So what's the point? You think that some arbitrary beauty standard is unfair? Guess what? Everyone has to deal with them and nobody gives a shyt how much you cry about it.

Why do women have to shave their legs, arms and armpits and men don't?

:lupe:

It gives women a softer, sleeker, more youthful look. It's less pushed on men because body hair is indicative of testosterone and therefore masculinity. It can really make you look like you're a boss dude if you don't wax and shave that stuff. However, for women, it looks much more masculine because of how body hair is associated with masculinity and testosterone.

They don't have to do shyt. Nobody is forcing them to.

Just like nobody has to take a bath, maintain their hair in professional manner. Eat and drink, talk to anybody, wear clothes etc.

But there are consequences for doing such things that they will have to deal with.

This is my point

you're not going to shame people into thinking that it isn't attractive or unattractive.

You are more that entitled to (as a man) not be attracted to women with body hair. I'm not saying these women should be beautiful to you. What I am saying is exactly what you just said. Veet can't shame women into buying their product. If they try to, the women (and men) who are offended by it have a right to speak out against it.

If you don't agree with the outrage feel free to create a movement in support of the ad. :yeshrug:

Primarily it's about how it makes women feel about themselves.

Hence the bullying. It's telling you, you're not a woman.
I'm a woman, and if you think this is bullying, you have a stressful life ahead of you.

Don't use a commercial to dictate how you feel about yourself. If you do, you have a stressful life ahead of you.

"It's just their product" is not a response to anything. The advertising is part of their cultural spin on it. Don't risk dudeness? GTFOH. What a shameful advertising idea, to desexualize a woman because she hasn't used your product. Props to @Ms.CuriousCat for trying to explain the issue even though it will sail over most people's heads here

You're a very attractive woman, and I'm sure you work hard on grooming. But that doesn't mean you or anyone should be told "you're not a woman anymore, just a gross dude" if you don't shave your legs. Come on brehette.

Thank you, but I don't base my value or identity on what anyone else says. Especially a commercial. We as women have the right to do exactly what we please. It actually comes off as weakness when these women are getting so out of sorts over something that should be a non issue.

But the issue is not whether you can personally ignore the ad or not. The message in advertising (on tv, on billboards. etc) is part of the social context you swim in. Their point is being put out there, at you regardless. Check out the people in this thread who agree with it 100%. And they made a choice to make this ad with this argument. That's what people are protesting.

I live in a country where we're bombarded with "fairness cream" ads, just the fact that someone wants to sell a fairness cream or someone who is darkskinned can "ignore it" doesn't mean the ad itself doesn't have a problematic construct. Media shapes society and deserves to be held to high standards, especially in service of selling units of a product. This isn't subtle art, it's targeted commerce. Calling them out on their BS is worthwhile.
