That should convince people to gain some valuable skills. :manny: Trades/Certs hit $20-$25 easy. Theres 2 year degrees that can pull $25/hr.

$25 for a skilled trade and a degree when fast food already paying people $14 to $18 an hour? No "skilled trade " should pay less than $180k a year and pit price caps on food and real estate.

Here we go

Everyone will celebrate this hollow victory. But not realize this will increase the cost of living nationwide and it will further decrease the value of the dollar
The cost of living was going up long before wage increases.

Only reason the cost of living is so high now is because landlords capitalize on higher wages by increasing rent. Plus property owners voting against building affordable housing because it would effect the inflated value of their properties.

Higher wages for people on the lowest income bracket does not increase the COL across the broad or lower the value of the dollar.

I could tell majority of ya'll are either unemployed or underemployed the way ya'll are clueless on how the economy works

If the minimum wage raises, this will greatly effect Small Businesses. Their business expenses will still be there, now they have an added burden of higher labor cost for an unskilled worker. Now the unskilled workers who are getting higher wages will become harder to employ because Smaller Businesses will find them too expensive to hire, and too expensive to train. This will cause more minimum wage workers to be unemployed

This also effects the manufacturing and shipping industry in that because unskilled/low skilled labor in these industries are more expensive, it makes manufacturing costs and shipping costs more expensive, which in turn makes groceries, clothing, restaurant food, electronics, etc etc more expensive for the consumer
Lol you have to attack my earnings and you don't even know what they are.

Stick to the point.

Are minimum wage increases the driving force behind the increase in wealth inequality over the last 40 years?

I'm beginning to think ya'll don't care about the poor disenfranchised people ya'll are supposedly "looking out for"

"The cost of living was already going up" is a useless throwaway comment that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. If you raise the minimum wage for unskilled workers it makes them harder to employ because Businesses already struggle with dealing with labor costs. Now you're adding to that when Businesses can just chose a cheaper option by hiring someone who is higher skilled and that does not need job training

Now there will be more immigrants, college students, uneducated, and other types of unskilled labor will be out of a job.... But as long as ya'll pretentious people can pat yourself on the back because "the world is better now" because minimum wage is a sexy topic you can talk with your pretentious friends then all is well right

It should be like $30.
Especially given how much these CEOs are stealing from companies.

The department of labor's funding has been kept low, and corporately owned news media purposefully doesn't fund reporting on labor. Children also don't learn about their rights and about people like Lucy Parsons or events like the hawk's nest tunnel disaster.

It's all by design.

So you really want people to live off of $9 an hour in 2024?? You really gonna make a bunch of grown people to live off of minimum wage and expect them to remain loyal?

Everything you just said is irrelevant, because wages have been increasing for the past few years and employers are begging for workers, especially the low skilled employers. Anyone who wants a job can easily find one.

He's pushing that stale ass conservative doom and gloom argument that minimum wage increases will destroy low skilled work.

The issue is the minimum wage has been raised considerably over the last 5 or so years but we haven't seen any negative impact on low skilled workers. We can already examine the current job economy and see that brehs argument is wrong.

And of the applicants that apply to that job, the employers will hire the ones that are the most skilled that require the least job training... what are you not understanding about that

For businesses, labor costs are easily the biggest cost. This new minimum wage law just made the most unskilled workers more expensive. But of course ya'll don't care about these people, ya'll love to look good in front of your echo chamber while ya'll wave your pretentious flag

No, its the business owners have DELUSIONAL EXPECATIONS of hiring the most skilled workers and pay them like teenagers, while they expect to picket over $500k a year AFTER expenses.
